.Linekar is from Leicester
And he ran from pillar to post
He scored for city and country
Spurred on from coast to coast.
But Gary’s no longer running
He’s slowed to a walkers pace
And he’s earned himself a packet
And he wears a smiley face
He’s become a personality
In a cool and crispy way

In a land far remote from reality.
Join hands with those of whom you dream
And play alongside your favourite team.
You see, every night when I fall asleep
I win the Cup Final and the trophy I keep.
But not just that, I then move to France
I there win the Tour and just beat young Lance.
That done at Lords I smash down the wicket
To beat the Aussies in the Final Test cricket
Then onto the Belfry, I putt the last green
And Tiger is sunk and I am supreme.
Then to Wimbledon, on Centre Court.
I lay down the aces, Henman’s distraught.
I wake up at seven to the sound of the bell
I’ve just knocked out Lewis, after a hiding from hell.
What a night, what a night and I did again
But work is now calling, like a dull pain.
So off go the covers, the day has arrived.
The night was all-action but not too contrived,
The problem is, tho’ I’m not one to shirk
After all that effort, I’m too knackered to work more »
